In their second league game of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019, Mumbai thrashed Haryana by 8 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday (November 9).

Sent into bat, Haryana posted 153/5 in 20 overs with contributions from Harshal Patel (33 off 27 balls), Rahul Tewatia (29* off 16 balls), Shivam Chauhan (28 off 29 balls) and Chaitanya Bishnoi.

Tushar Deshpande was the stand-out bowler for Mumbai, claiming 2 for 27 in his stipulated 4 overs. Shubham Ranjane (1/17), Dhawal Kulkarni (1/32) and Dhrumil Matkar (1/29) also chipped in with wicket apiece.

In reply, Mumbai lost opener Jay Bista (13) cheaply. Coming at No.3, Suryakumar Yadav then made the mockery of Haryana bowlers. He stitched a 74-run stand for the second wicket with Aditya Tare (39 off 28 balls) to put the hosts on the brink of victory.

Tare's departure did not deter Surya, who in the company of Siddhesh Lad (16 not out) took Mumbai over the line with 26 balls to spare.

Surya took the Haryana attack to the cleaners as he smashed 11 fours and 3 sixes to finish with 81 not out off just 38 deliveries.

Brief Scores:

Haryana 153/5 in 20 overs (Harshal Patel 33, Rahul Tewatia 29*; Tushar Deshpande 2/27) lost to Mumbai 154/2 in 15.4 overs (Suryakumar Yadav 81* Aditya Tare 39; Arun Chaprana 1/31) by 8 wickets.
