Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019: Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh go through to semifinals after quarterfinals rained out

Both semifinals to be played on Oct 23 in Bengaluru.

Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019-20The third and fourth quarterfinal of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2019 played between Punjab and Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh and Mumbai were rained out. This meant that Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh go through to semifinals, to be played on 23rd October in Bengaluru.

Punjab v Tamil Nadu

Baba Aparajith Tamil NaduTamil Nadu was put in to bat after Punjab won the toss. The match was curtailed to 39 overs per side and Tamil Nadu made 174/6 with Baba Aparajith making 56 and Washington Sundar making 35*. Mayank Markande and Gurkeerat Singh picked two wickets each.

In reply, Tamil Nadu made 52/2 in 12.2 overs with Sanvir Singh making 21* before rains came down hard and the match was abandoned.

Tamil Nadu went through and will meet Gujarat in the second semi-final.

Chhattisgarh v Mumbai

Harpreet Singh ChhattisgarhMumbai won the toss and elected to field first. Chhattisgarh made 190/6 in 45.4 overs when the rain came down. Harpreet Singh made 83, Amandeep Khare made 59*, while Dhawal Kulkarni picked 2/9 for Mumbai.

Mumbai was set 192 to win, but only 11.3 overs of play was possible, in which they made 95/0 with Jaiswal making 60* and Tare making 31*. The match was called off due to rain.

Chhattisgarh went through and will face Karnataka in the first semifinal.
