All-rounder Krunal Pandya has been named Baroda's captain for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. The premier domestic List A competition will be played from September 24 till October 25.

Krunal has had a quick rise in his career from once plying his trade at the domestic level to becoming a mainstay for Mumbai Indians in the IPL and last year wearing the Indian T20I jersey for the first time. He has since been a regular for the country in the shortest format of the game.

Interestingly, Baroda has left out the younger Pandya, Hardik, from the squad despite his potential availability after the ongoing T20I series versus South Africa.

It seems the 25-year-old is taking some precautionary measures to keep himself fit for only international assignments. Nevertheless, Krunal's deputy for the Vijay Hazare Trophy will be experienced batsman Kedar Deodhar. The squad also features India veteran Yusuf Pathan and young talented all-rounder Deepak Hooda.

Baroda will open its campaign in Group B with the game against Odisha on September 24 before also facing Uttar Pradesh (September 25), Maharashtra (September 28), Haryana (October 1), Himachal Pradesh (October 3), Vidarbha (October 5), Delhi (October 9) and Punjab (October 9) in the first round.

Baroda Squad:
Krunal Pandya (Captain), Kedar Devdhar (vice-captain), Rishi Arothe, Deepak Hooda, Lukman Meriwala, Mitesh Patel, Babashafi Pathan, Yusuf Pathan, Ninad Rathva, Vishnu Solanki, Soyeb Sopariya, Swapnil Singh, Aditya Waghmode.
