The Indian A team registered a 1-0 win in the two-match unofficial Test series against England Lions as they won the second match at the Srikantadatta Narasimha Raja Wadeyar Ground, Mysore by an innings and 68 runs.
India A captain KL Rahul won the toss and chose to bat first. Rahul (81) and A Easwaran added 179 for the first wicket putting pressure on Lions. Priyank Panchal then made 50 and KS Bharat scored 46 runs, as Abhimanyu Easwaran anchored one end with a brilliant 117 with 13 fours and 1 six.
India A put up 392 on the board in the first innings. Zak Chappell was the star bowler for England Lions picking 4/60, while Danny Briggs picked 3/71.
England Lions’ first innings was a disaster as Ollie Pope was the lone batsman to cross the score of 20, making 25, as the visitors were bowled out for 144 runs. Navdeep Saini (3/30) and Shahbaz Nadeem (3/32) were the main wicket-takers, while Varun Aaron and Jalaj Saxena picked two wickets apiece.
England Lions were asked to follow-on by KL Rahul and they did fare well in the second innings, with Ben Duckett making 50 and Lewis Gregory making 46. However, no batsmen went on to make a big score to put pressure on Indian bowlers.
Lions only managed to score 180 in the second innings, thanks mainly to 5/31 from Mayank Markande, 2/40 from Jalaj Saxena and a wicket each for Saini, Nadeem, and Aaron.
India A won the match by an innings and 68 runs and with it the series as well by a margin of 1-0.
