WATCH – Umpire gives Vidarbha captain Faiz Fazal out in bizarre fashion in Irani Trophy tie

Umpire CK Nandan took eons to give his decision.

Faiz Fazal was given out after many minutes of initial appeal The Irani Trophy 2019 match between Ranji Trophy champions Vidarbha and Rest of India has been a well-balanced tie so far. Rest of India scored 330 in the first innings with Hanuma Vihari scoring a ton and Vidarbha replied with 425 thanks to a maiden ton by Akshay Karnewar.

However, the Vidarbha innings was marred by an incident in which captain Faiz Fazal was given out by the umpire in a bizarre way. The incident took place in the 21st over on Day 2 of the Irani Cup, when Fazal edged a delivery from Krishnappa Gowtham to the wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan.

The ball seemingly touched Fazal’s bat as he tried to defend a full delivery and settled in the gloves of Kishan. Hearing the noise, the entire bowling team started the celebrations, before they saw that the umpire CK Nandan was not in any mood to raise his finger.

However, umpire Nandan was in no mood to give it out as ROI continued appealing and decided to go back to their fielding positions. Bowler Gopal walked back to his mark to get ready to bowl the last ball of the over when suddenly, umpire Nandan raised his finger to give Fazal out.

Fazal was shocked by such a delayed decision and looked perplexed before walking off for the score of 27 runs.

Here is the video of the bizarre decision:
