Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018: Delhi defeats Jharkhand by 2 wickets in a tight finish to set up final with Mumbai

Pawan Negi and Navdeep Saini shined for Delhi.

Virat Singh hit 71 for Jharkhand | TOIGautam Gambhir led Delhi defeated Ishan Kishan’s Jharkhand in the second semifinal of the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018/19 to set up a final with rivals Mumbai. Mumbai had defeated Hyderabad in the first semifinal to get into the finals.

Delhi won the toss and chose to chase. For Jharkhand, Virat Singh made 71 in 91 balls, Anand Singh made 36 and Shahbaz Nadeem made 29 to push their team to 199 in 48.5 overs. Navdeep Saini had rattled the top order of Jharkhand, along with Kulwant Khejroliya. Including the wicket of captain Ishan Kishan for a duck.

Navdeep picked 4/30, while Khejroliya and Pranshu Vijayan picked two wickets each for Delhi.

Unmukt Chand (17) and Dhurv Shorey (15) got starts but threw their wickets, while Gambhir (27) got a rough decision from the umpire. Nitish Rana made 39 to stabilize the innings, but Delhi slipped to 149/8 when Pawan Negi (39*) and Navdeep Saini (13*) got to work and crawled Delhi back into the game and eventually won the game in the last over.

For Jharkhand, Anand Singh picked 3/39, Aaron picked 2/39 and Nadeem picked 2/34; but couldn’t stop Delhi from winning the match by two wickets.
