The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association(TNCA) is unaware on the fitness and availability of Ravichandran Ashwin for the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. The Indian off-spinner wasn't part of the state side's game against Gujarat on Friday, September 21, which it lost by 4 wickets.

It was anyway expected that India's premier spinner will be missing the start of the domestic season for Tamil Nadu, as he just came back from the long and gruelling five-match Test series in England and having earlier signed up to play the last two games of the county championship season for Worcestershire, couldn't feature for the club because of his side strain which also saw him being rested from the final Test at the Oval.

It seems now that Ashwin hasn't been in contact with the TNCA administration and medical staff about his injury and rehabilitation plans.

According to the official procedure, Ashwin will have to undergo the fitness programme at the National Cricket Academy(NCA) before he can be selectable for the upcoming 2-match Test series against West Indies but that hasn't yet transpired, with him instead spotted on a media show in Dubai on September 17. A BCCI source close to the development has told Mirror that Ashwin didn't take any permission for that and the board can even initiate an inquiry against him.

A member of the BCCI quoted an email response on Ashwin to the Mirror as, “R Ashwin is suffering from a minor groin muscle strain. He is currently undergoing strength & conditioning, rehabilitation process in Chennai. He will be heading to NCA in a couple of days to continue his rehab process.”
