Indian batsman and Bengal skipper Manoj Tiwary has expressed genuine concerns regarding the quality of pitches in the ongoing domestic List A competition, Vijay Hazare Trophy.

There has been widespread criticism of the gap in nature of surfaces from the International cricket to the ones players encounter at the domestic level over the years and Manoj, having come across another such instance, reiterated the alarming issue.

This was a rain-curtailed game at the Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering Ground and after getting Jammu & Kashmir bowled out for 96 in 23.4 overs, Bengal reached the target in just over 20 overs and won the game by 6 wickets.

After the game, Manoj took to the social media network Twitter and expressed his disappointment over the available playing conditions at the ground.

Manoj's angst over pitches comes on exactly the day left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem ran through the Rajasthan batting line up on a turning pitch and inflicted astonishing match figures of 10-4-10-8. Rajasthan were all out for 73 runs in 28.3 overs, and Jharkhand completed an easy win 7 wickets.

Now, Nadeem is a quality bowler and veteran of the Indian domestic game but surely a finger spinner getting 8/10 in the modern-day limited overs cricket and that too in India's ODI feeder competition, should be alarming for everyone.
