Duleep Trophy 2018-19: Gangta and Hooda star as India Blue defeats India Red by an inn and 187 runs in final

Deepak Hooda picked seven wickets in the match including a fifer.

Anmolpreet Singh and Swapnil Singh helped India Blue trounce India Red in finals of Duleep TrophyIndia Blue and India Red met in the finals of the 2018-19 Duleep Trophy at the NPR College Ground, Dindigul.

India Blue skipper Faiz Fazal chose to bat first after winning the toss. However, they lost the first four wickets for just 107 runs on the board. But then Ricky Bhui (60) and Anmolpreet Singh (96) added 144 runs for the 5th wicket.

Nikhil Gangta then came to the party with a beautifully crafted 130 with 7 fours and 6 sixes and got support from Swapnil Singh, who made 69 runs and added 153 runs for the 7th wicket. Their partnership took India Blue to 541 runs in their innings.

For India Red, Parvez Rasool picked 4/150 and Mihir Hirwani took 3/190.

Saurabh Kumar picked a fifer in India Red second inningsIndia Red’s first innings ended in disaster, as they were bundled for 182 runs with B Sandeep being the top scorer with 57 runs. Swapnil Singh picked 5/58, while Dhawal Kulkarni and Deepak Hooda picked two wickets each.

India Red was asked to follow on and they did even worse in their second innings, with none of the batsmen scoring a fifty and only skipper Abhinav Mukund making 46 and Ishan Kishan making 30.

Deepak Hooda and Saurabh Kumar ran through the Red innings with 5/56 and 5/51 respectively, as India Blue steamrolled India Red by an innings and 187 runs.
