The ongoing Ranji Trophy 2025-26 final between Jammu and Kashmir and Karnataka saw J&K taking advantage of batting first after winning the toss. This match got underway on February 24 at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground, Hubli.
Opener Yawar Hassan made 88, while Shubham Pundir made 121 runs. Captain Paras Dogra has held fort at one end, while Abdul Samad hammered a good-looking 61 runs, and keeper Kanhaiya Wadhawan has reached his fifty as well, partnering his captain.
At the time of writing this piece, J&K had made 395/4 as they built towards a healthy first innings total.
However, on day 2 of the final, things got a little heated up when Dogra, an FC veteran went after Karnataka’s substitute fielder KV Aneesh. The crisis occurred in the 101st over of Jammu and Kashmir's first innings, when Dogra was batting alongside Kanhaiya Wadhawan in a critical partnership.
After edging a delivery from Prasidh Krishna for a boundary, Dogra spoke with substitute fielder KV Aneesh, who was stationed at the forward short leg.
As the verbal confrontation heated up, Dogra raced at Aneesh and headbutted him with his helmet. The unexpected gesture startled both players and officials, with former Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal rapidly acting to diffuse the tension and umpires rushing in to restore order.

In scenes not caught on camera, Dogra apologized at the end of the over, but Aneesh refused to take it, seeming extremely unhappy. The tension did not end there, as Agarwal and KL Rahul joined in, delivering stinging verbal reactions to the Jammu and Kashmir skipper.
Devdutt Padikkal, Karnataka's captain, had a harsh discussion with the match umpires and even called out Dogra.
