Mohammad Shami, Bengal pacer, dismantled Jammu and Kashmir in the ongoing 2nd semi-final of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 tournament, as he took an excellent 8/90, his first-class career-best bowling figures.
Bengal had been asked to bat first and, thanks to Sudip Kumar Gharami’s 146, posted 328 runs. In response, Mohammed Shami demonstrated his fitness and rhythm during a match for Bengal at the Bengal Cricket Academy Ground in Kalyani.
His spells were characterized by dogged accuracy, late swing, and the unique seam presentation that has elevated him to the ranks of the world's most feared red ball bowlers.
Shami's victims included the J&K top order, where he took advantage of the early morning wetness, and a middle-order fightback led by Abdul Samad (82) and skipper Paras Dogra (58). Shami supplied the vital breakthroughs just as J&K appeared to be gaining control.
Mukesh Kumar picked two wickets, but it was Mohammad Shami who finished with his career-best FC cricket figures of 8/90. His performance helped Bengal take a significant first-innings lead.
