India all-rounder Hardik Pandya was at his brutal best on Vijay Hazare Trophy return for Baroda against Vidarbha at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot on Saturday (January 3).
Hardik walked out to bat in the 20th over when Baroda were struggling at 71/5. He started cautiously, working with the lower order and picking gaps to keep the scoreboard ticking.
Hardik took 44 balls to reach his half-century and was batting on 66 off 62 balls before he went berserk in the 39th over to complete his maiden List A hundred.
Parth Rekhade was at the receiving end of Hardik Pandya’s carnage as the latter smashed the left-arm spinner for five consecutive sixes and a four in that over to notch up his three-figure mark.
Hardik eventually finished with 133 off 92 balls, hitting 11 sixes and 8 fours. He was the lone warrior in Baroda’s innings, as no other batter managed to touch the 30-run mark.
Thanks to his jaw-dropping knock, Baroda posted a competitive 293/9 in 50 overs against Vidarbha.
