CWC 2019: R Ashwin captures Stuart Broad jumping after England won World Cup

Broad jumped in joy after England earned six runs owing to ball being deflected towards the boundary.

England | GettyThe hosts England lived up to the expectations of their title of favorites, this World Cup, as they clinched their maiden World Cup with a win over New Zealand in the final at Lord’s on Sunday.

Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin captured the celebration in Nottinghamshire’s dressing room. England’s test specialist pacer Stuart Broad jumped in joy after a deflected throw in final over resulted in six crucial runs for England.

"Videos of emotion from #CWC19Final, we all must have them?! @ashwinravi99 captured the @TrentBridge changing room when, at the most crucial point of the match, a 1 in a million deflection went for '6'. Breathtaking, never seen anything like it. I love Cricket @englandcricket," Stuart Broad captioned the video on twitter.

It was first time in the history when the World Cup winner was declared on the virtue of boundary count after the final match and super over ended in a tie.

After winning the toss and opting to bat, Blackcaps rode on Nicholls fifty to score 241/8. All-rounder Ben Stokes scored an unbeaten knock of 84 as England managed to finish at parity with New Zealand’s score.

In the final over Ben Stokes earned six lucky runs for his side after accidentally deflecting the ball towards the boundary. After the scores tied, super-over too ended in a tie as both the sides managed to score 15 runs, but it was England who gained an advantage owing to ICC’s rule of boundary count tie-breaker.

"What a final!! Well done @Eoin16 and his English team that embarked on mission 2019 after that evening at Adelaide in 2015," Ashwin congratulated England captain Eoin Morgan on Twitter.

India finished their World Cup 2019 campaign with a defeat to New Zealand in the rain-affected semi-final.
