The points table shows that Bangladesh had a poor tournament as they won only three games and finished at the eighth position but performance-wise they were brilliant

Bangladesh's journey began with a 21 runs win over South Africa in The Oval. At the same venue they lost a close match to New Zealand by 2 wickets. In the third match against England they couldn't do well and suffered a big 112 runs loss. The fourth match against Sri Lanka was washed out.

In the fifth match against West Indies they made a good comeback and chased down record 321 runs. Against Australia and India they put up a good performance and lost the match in the end and comfertably beat Afghanistan. In the final match against Pakistan they looked tired and their campaign came to an end with a 94 runs loss. Overall Bangladesh's performance was satisfactory but they could have done much better.

Star all rounder Shakib al Hasan carried the batting line up as he scored record 606 runs with seven fifty plus scores. Wicket keeper batsman Mushfiqur Rahim also did well but openers Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar and Mahmudullah couldn't live up to the expectations. In the bowling Mustafizur Rahman and Mohammad Saifuddin did well but captain Mashrafe Mortaza let them down as he picked up only one wicket in the whole tournament.
