CWC 2019: Tanvir Ahmed says that Imam-ul-Haq's century against Bangladesh deserves to be in dustbin

Imam-ul-Haq had a crucial 153-run stand with Babar Azam, which helped Pakistan post 315 on scoreboard

Imam-ul-Haq | GettyImam-ul-Haq hit his seventh ODI century and first in the ICC World Cup 2019 and stunning assault from Pakistan bowlers helped the team to clinch a 94-run win over Bangladesh in their final league game.

His hundred in as many balls assisted Pakistan to post 315 runs on the board. Imam had a crucial stand of 153-runs with Babar Azam (96).

Despite his match-winning performance former Pakistan cricketer Tanvir Ahmed during a TV chat show said: "the kind of century, he (Imam-ul-Haq) has scored today, I will put it in the dustbin".

He also said former cricketers like Waqar Younis and others won’t blame Imam, because they want to maintain a good relationship with his uncle Inzamam.

Imam had a decent World Cup season as he scored 305 runs with an average of 38. He is second highest run-getter for Pakistan this World Cup after Babar Azam (474). While no other Pakistani player could make enough runs to make it to at least top 20.

Imam, who made his ODI debut in 2007, has now cemented his place in the team and is a key player in team’s top order. So far he has managed 1692 runs off 36 matches played, with a sound average of 54.58, including seven centuries and six half-centuries in ODIs.
