CWC 2019: England team management provides updates on injuries of Eoin Morgan and Jason Roy

CWC 2019: England team management provides updates on injuries of Eoin Morgan and Jason Roy

Roy and Morgan suffered injuries during the match against West Indies on Friday.

Eoin Morgan suffered a back spasm | GettyThe host of the ICC World Cup 2019 and no.1 ranked ODI team England have only suffered one loss in the ongoing competition, at the hands of Pakistan, which was by a narrow margin of 14 runs. Otherwise, they have proved why the majority of experts are treating them as favorites to winning the trophy.

However, in their previous match against West Indies, the England team was struck twice by the injury bug as two of their most important members were seen leaving the field and getting treated in the confines of the pavilion.

First Jason Roy pulled up with a hamstring injury and didn’t come out to bat in the chase and then captain Eoin Morgan was seen holding his back and had to go back leaving Jos Buttler to lead the side in his stead. Now the England team management has provided updates on the duo’s injuries.

Eoin Morgan underwent scans for back spasms this weekend and further treatment. The update is that the spasm settled down and he will be monitored over the next 24 hours ahead of England’s next match against Afghanistan tomorrow (Tuesday) at Old Trafford, Manchester.

As for Jason Roy, his injury has turned out to be a serious one and after undergoing an MRI scan, it was revealed that his left hamstring had suffered a tear. This has put him out of contention for England’s upcoming encounters against Afghanistan (18 June) and Sri Lanka (21 June). Roy’s condition will be monitored on an ongoing basis this week and further updates will be given.
