Indian captain Virat Kohli has hurt his thumb during the team's practice session at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Saturday (June 1). India will begin their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 campaign against South Africa on Wednesday (June 5) at the same ground.
Kohli, appeared in some discomfort and was attended to by the physiotherapist Patrick Farhart immediately, who applied some spray to ease the pain. He then had his thumb immersed in ice water before returning to the dressing room.
India's campaign would rely massively on the shoulders of Virat Kohli and any injury to him would cause a massive flutter in the camp as well as among the fans who desperately want to see the team win their World Cup title.
India lost their first warm-up game against New Zealand, but came back strongly to beat Bangladesh easily in the second warm-up game with KL Rahul and MS Dhoni scoring centuries.
