Team India is going into the World Cup with three key fast bowlers in Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly shared his opinion that Shami should bowl in the first powerplay and should finish the innings with Bumrah.

Bhuvneshwar has had a slight dip in form since his rest for the World Cup before the IPL. On the other hand, Bumrah and Shami have been bowling well, and with great speed. However, Bhuvneshwar can generate a good amount of swing in England in the first 10 overs.

Ganguly told India TV, “I’ll play Mohammad Shami. He has not only been good in the IPL but has been brilliant throughout the year for India. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has had a dip in form over the last 4-5 months. I’m a fan of Bhuvi but it’s all about temperament and attitude. I believe he will come back stronger.”

He also said that India should go in with the fast bowling trio of Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami.

“I’ll want, at least in the initial stage of the tournament, to have Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami and Hardik Pandya in the pace attack,” he added.

In IPL 2019, Ganguly, who was the advisor of the Delhi Capitals, had a chat with Zaheer Khan, who is working with the Mumbai Indians. Zaheer complemented the hardwork and success of Shami and Ganguly too felt special about him.

Ganguly said, “I talked to Zaheer Khan during the IPL, and he insisted that he hadn’t seen an Indian bowler performing like that in years, which makes Shami even more important. His death bowling has improved, especially the yorkers. Bumrah and Shami will be the key during the death overs.”
