India’s middle-order batsman Kedar Jadhav has been cleared fit to feature in the upcoming ODI World Cup and is set to travel to England with the Indian team on May 22.

As per a report published in India Today, Kedar underwent a fitness test on Thursday (May 16) and passed it with flying colours. Team India physio Patrick Farhart submitted his report to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), declaring Jadhav fit to resume playing.

Kedar Jadhav had injured his shoulder during Chennai Super Kings’ last league match of the recently concluded IPL season against Kings XI Punjab on May 5. He sustained an injury on his left shoulder while trying to save an overthrow during the 14th over KXIP's innings. The 34-year-old immediately left the field and didn’t comeback for the rest of the match and neither featured in the remaining fixtures of CSK.

Jadhav, who is expected to be a vital cog in India’s World Cup campaign, has been struggling with injuries in the past year. He missed IPL 2018 after playing just one match due to a hamstring injury. The right-hander went on to miss India's tour of England last year and suffered a recurrence of the injury on his return to the senior national team during the Asia Cup 2018 in UAE.

For all his fitness flaws, Jadhav is still an integral part of the Indian ODI outfit. He is a reliable middle-order batsman and often provides a crucial breakthrough with the ball.

Having made his ODI debut in 2014, Kedar has played 59 ODIs for India, scoring 1174 runs at an average of 43.48 including two hundreds and five half-centuries. With the ball, he has claimed 27 wickets at 34.70 with the best figures of 3/23.
