Australia’s premier bowlers Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc’s struggle to recover from the respective injuries might offer a World Cup 2019 berth to the rookie pacer Jhye Richardson.

In the absence of the duo, Richardson has been doing really well in the white-ball game and has earned praise from one and all for his accurate and fiery bowling along with added batting advantage despite not having played a lot of One Day International cricket for Australia.

While Hazlewood, who suffered a back injury in January and Starc is still recovering from a torn pectoral muscle, as the duo is in the road to attain 100 percent game fitness, but still they are doubtful for the showpiece event in England -which can offer a golden opportunity to Richardson for the World Cup.

At the moment, Richardson is with Australia team in the UAE for the five-match ODI series against Pakistan and had a net session in Dubai along with fellow Pat Cummins, who was also impressed by the paceman.

As per reports in cricket.com.au, Cummins told media on Tuesday, 19 March, “It’s really exciting. Someone like Jhye, still hasn’t played a heap of ODI cricket.”

He continued, “Dorff and Coults, I know they’ve had a few troubles with their injuries but every time they come in, they seem to be bowling really well, now is no different. Kane Richardson had a great BBL as well, and we’ve also got two other big quicks to come back.”

Meanwhile, Coach Justin Langer lavished praise on Cummins and Richardson ahead of Pakistan series, starting from 23 March in Sharjah, saying, “They’re both great athletes. They bowl fast, they’re brilliant in the field and they can bat as well.”

Noteworthy, the five-match ODI series against Pakistan will be Australia’s last white-ball assignment before heading into the World Cup 2019 means it will be the final chance for the players to make it to Australia’s 15-man squad for the World Cup.
