The ICC 2019 Cricket World Cup will begin from May 30 and the participating teams have to submit their 15-man squads by April 23. Every team is experimenting with their playing XIs to find the 15 best players for their squad for the mega ICC event.
Even the fans and experts are mulling over the best 15 for every team and one of the biggest contenders for the title is Team India and they are currently engaged in their final international ODI assignment against Australia.
Keeping the World Cup in mind, the Indian team management has tried out various combinations in their recent matches. Former Australia batsman and 2007 World cup winner Michael Hussey has also put his two cents forward as to which 15 players should make it into the Indian squad for the 2019 World Cup.
Hussey went with the tried and tested top three of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, and Virat Kohli. He placed Rayudu at number four, followed by the former Indian captain, MS Dhoni, at number five. Kedar Jadhav and Hardik Pandya slots in as all-rounders. Hussey also picked both wrist spinners, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. For the pace bowling department, Hussey chose Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah as fast bowlers in the playing XI.
Mohammad Shami has been picked as the back up fast bowler, while KL Rahul gets picked as the backup opener. In a surprising move, Hussey picked Dinesh Karthik over the younger Rishabh Pant as the backup wicketkeeper in India’s 15-man squad and also picked Ravindra Jadeja for the third all-rounder spot.
