CWC 2019: 5 leading contenders for the highest run-getter in ICC 2019 World Cup

These five batsmen have the best chance of becoming the highest run-getters of the World Cup 2019.

KANE WILLIAMSON (NZ)
Kane Williamson

Kane Williamson, the New Zealand captain, has been amongst the top run-getters in the world in almost all formats of international cricket. Williamson has scored 5554 runs in 139 ODIs with 11 centuries at an average of 45.90 and a best of 145*. Though his strike rate is 82.61, Williamson is the glue that holds the Kiwi batting lineup together.

Williamson has been considered one of the four greatest batsmen of the current modern era along with Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, and Joe Root and Williamson have been amongst the runs since a long time. Williamson is comfortable against pace and spin and has a developed a game in which his coaching manual batting has become adapted to the modern T20 game.

Though he had a lackluster 2015 World Cup which was played at home, Williamson’s game has evolved since then and is definitely a contender for the batsman with most runs in the upcoming 2019 ICC World Cup.
