Star India pacer Jasprit Bumrah’s wife, Sanjana Ganesan provided an update about the pacer’s recovery when Bangladesh cricketer Mehidy Hasan Miraz inquired about him during their ICC interview ahead of India vs Bangladesh ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match in Dubai.
The two sides will open their CT 2025 as they clash in Dubai on February 20 in a group A clash.
Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the eight-team International Cricket Council event on February 11 due to a lower back injury sustained while playing for India in the fifth Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3-5, 2025.
Bumrah was named to the provisional team revealed by the selectors on January 18 in Mumbai, but Harshit Rana replaced him on the final day of squad revisions. Bumrah's absence is a major setback for Team India.
In Bumrah’s absence, Mohammad Shami will lead India’s bowling attack in the Champions Trophy 2025, with Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana for support.
Ahead of India's tournament opener, Bumrah's wife, sports broadcaster Sanjana Ganesan, offered an update on Bumrah's fitness and recovery from a back ailment during an interview with star Bangladeshi all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
According to Sanjana, Bumrah has begun training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
“He is okay. He is training at the NCA," Sanjana said when Miraz asked her, “How is Bumrah?"
Miraz stated that he’s very happy that Bumrah is not playing in the Champions Trophy 2025.
“He is a very different bowler and very dangerous, uff! He is not coming here. We are very happy! He is very dangerous. Everybody respects him. Every better. I got out against him two times. He has improved a lot. He bowls both ways," Miraz said.
