India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was seen in severe pain during the team’s first practice session at the ICC Academy in Dubai ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The Indian squad landed in the UAE on Saturday (February 15) as they received a warm welcome amid loud cheers.
A day later, Rohit Sharma and his men hit the ground running to acclimatize themselves with the conditions in Dubai.
However, during the training session, Pant was hit on his knee, which left him in excruciating pain. In a video doing rounds on social media, the southpaw could be seen falling on the ground as he was attended by the team’s physio.
According to a TOI report, Rishabh Pant looked in discomfort when the ice pack was applied to the knee which had sustained a lot of damage during his horrific car accident in December 2022.
After icing, Pant was back on his feet but he limped for a bit. The left-hander was later seen with a heavily strapped knee as he made his way to the change room.
Indian fans would hope that Rishabh Pant hasn’t suffered a major injury leading up to ICC event and will be fit and ready whenever the team needs his services.
Pant has been picked as the second wicketkeeper in the 15-member squad along with KL Rahul, who will start the tournament, as confirmed by head coach Gautam Gambhir.
India will begin their campaign on February 20 against Bangladesh at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
