Jasprit Bumrah has been officially ruled out of Indian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 tournament. This was confirmed by BCCI as they revealed the final squad for the tournament on February 11, 2025, with two changes made.
Mohammed Siraj has been overlooked as Harshit Rana has been named Bumrah’s replacement in the Indian squad. Apart from this, Varun Chakaravarthy was also added to the final squad, replacing Yashasvi Jaiswal from the provisional one.
“Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy due to a lower back injury. The Men’s Selection Committee has named Harshit Rana as Bumrah’s replacement.
Team India has also named Varun Chakaravarthy in the squad. The spinner will replace Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was initially named in the provisional squad,” BCCI stated.
Jasprit Bumrah has reportedly not yet recovered from the discomfort in his back, an injury he picked up during the Sydney Test in January that also ruled him out of the white-ball series against England.
This is the second ICC tournament Bumrah will miss due to injury, having sat out the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia due to a back injury which eventually forced him to have surgery.
Meanwhile, the BCCI also named three non-traveling reserves- Mohammed Siraj, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shivam Dube, who will travel to Dubai as and when needed.
India’s squad for ICC Champions Trophy, 2025:
