Indian squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 tournament will be a headache for the Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection committee. As per the report, Jasprit Bumrah is set to be named in the provisional squad for the ICC tournament, but will only play if "pain-free after returning to bowling."

Bumrah suffered back spasms during the Sydney Test between Australia and India. He bowled only 10 overs in the first innings, before going to hospital for scans and didn’t bowl in the second innings.

While the BCCI medical is on the issue, as per a Hindustan Times report, Bumrah has consulted New Zealand orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Rowan Schouten, who operated on him in 2023 after he had incurred a back injury.

"The surgeon is in touch with BCCI’s medical team and the selectors are expected to be informed," the HT report stated.

It has been claimed that the India star will be rested for the white-ball home series against England, which begins on January 22 and will include five T20Is and three ODIs before departing for Dubai for the Champions Trophy.

According to the Hindustan Times, Bumrah will be named to the Champions Trophy provisional team, which must be submitted by January 12 under ICC rules, but his participation would be contingent on obtaining medical clearance.
