Virat Kohli was absolutely gutted and furious with himself after he was dismissed in the Indian second innings of the ongoing fifth BGT 2024 Test in Sydney. This was the 8th time he was out in the same manner, caught in the slips playing balls outside off stump.
India had made 185 runs in the first innings of the SCG Test with Rishabh Pant top-scoring with 40 runs. Virat Kohli was dismissed in slips off Scott Boland, trying to play a short-of-the-length ball and edging it to Beau Webster for 17 runs.
Australia was then bowled out for 181 runs, thanks to the brilliant efforts of Indian pacers Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, who took three wickets each.
India was aiming for a huge lead in the second innings and after a decent opening partnership, the onus was on Virat Kohli to provide a platform for the same. However, history repeated itself as Kohli once again got out in the same manner.
Scott Boland bowled a ball outside off stump and Kohli poked with hard hands and was caught in the slips. But usually, he maintains a stoic face after getting out, this time he showed absolute disgust.
Kohli lost his wicket outside the off-stump line for the eighth successive time in this series.
After scoring a century in the second innings of the Perth Test, Kohli has failed to go big again and has scored just 90 runs in 9 innings at an average of 23.75.
