Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness has been in focus at the fag end of the ongoing BGT 2024 Test series. The pacer has bowled more than 150 overs across 5 Tests and on day 2 of the ongoing SCG Test, the pacer left the stadium, with Indian team medical staff to have scans.

Bumrah, India's top performer in the series, bowled just 8 overs on Saturday and dismissed Marnus Labuschagne.

However, when play resumed after lunch, the India captain bowled only one over and then exited the field. The Indian pacer's problem did not appear to be serious at first, and many assumed he was simply sleeping in the dressing room. However, Bumrah was later seen leaving the scene in a van for a local hospital.

Virat Kohli would take over as acting captain from Bumrah, ensuring that India finished with a 4-run lead over the hosts.

Soon after, reports emerged that the Indian pacer was suffering from a back problem, with scan results expected this evening.

"Bumrah was taken to a hospital in the Centennial Park area in Sydney. He has been taken to St Vincent's Hospital. He has a back issue and that is being scanned right now. The team will get the report by evening," sources told India Today.

Bumrah would then return to the dressing room with India batting in the third session of Day 2. The announcers would declare there was no new information on Bumrah's situation, but the pacer appeared to have a bounce in his step as he approached the pavilion.

Later, India pacer Prasidh Krishna provided an update on Bumrah's visit to the hospital and revealed that the India pacer underwent scans as he experienced back spasms.

"Jasprit Bumrah has a back spasm, went for scans. The medical team is monitoring him so let's see"- Prasidh Krishna said at the press conference.

Bumrah has been India's main man with the ball, taking 32 wickets in 5 matches so far at an average of 13.06.
