A stunning direct hit from Rishabh Pant gave India the wicket of Australian pacer Mitchell Starc on Day 4 of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Starc, known for his handy contributions with the bat, fell short of the non-striker’s end while trying to take a second run.

The incident unfolded on the first delivery of the 59th over. Starc tucked a length ball from Jasprit Bumrah away to square leg and completed the single easily. He ran down almost half the track for a second before being sent back by skipper Pat Cummins.

Pant received a flat throw from Nitish Kumar Reddy, positioned himself in front of the stumps, took his glove off and threw it low and flat at the other end to catch Starc short of his crease.

Mitchell Starc’s run-out for 5 reduced the Australian second innings to 156/8. Cummins was also dismissed a few overs later for 41 as the hosts slumped to 173/9, with an overall lead of 278 runs.
