India pacer Mohammed Siraj was seen teasing Australian batter Marnus Labuschagne with a bail flip on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The visiting players have used the bail flip tactic to distract the Australian batters in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. But Siraj took it to the next level on Thursday (December 26) as he teased Labuschagne while switching the bails.
During the second session of play, Siraj came down to the batter's end and switched the bails. While Labuschagne just walked away as Siraj performed this act, the fast bowler was heard saying on stump mic, "Marnus, look at that."
Siraj’s remark left the commentators in splits as well. He may have failed to disrupt Labuschagne’s focus this time around, but India got success in the very next over as Jasprit Bumrah dismissed the well-set Usman Khawaja for 57.
Notably, Siraj had succeeded in breaking the concentration of Labuschagne with his bail swap act in the third Test at Gabba.
Coming to the Melbourne Test, Australia finished the opening day on a high as half-centuries from the top-four batters propelled the hosts to 311/6. While Labuschagne (72) ended as the top scorer for the day, Steve Smith was unbeaten on 68 at stumps.
