Sam Konstas, Australia debutant in the MCG Test against India on December 26, 2024, talked about the Virat Kohli incident that happened on day one.

During the break between the 10th and 11th overs of the Australian innings, Konstas and Usman Khawaja were switching ends when Kohli walked toward the young batter and collided with him.

While Konstas was adjusting his gloves and keeping his head down when he inadvertently stepped into the Indian batsman, replays showed that Kohli was completely aware of his trajectory.

Talking about the same incident in a post-match presser, Sam Konstas stated that Kohli accidentally bumped into him.

I was doing my gloves, and he accidentally bumped me,” Konstas said.

"Virat Kohli accidentally bumped into me, that's cricket and can happen with tension. I think the emotions got to both of us. I didn't quite realize, I was doing my gloves, then a little shoulder charge, but it happens in cricket," he added.

Sam Konstas impressed everyone on his Test debut, scoring 60 runs with 6 fours and 2 sixes, This included an audacious six off Jasprit Bumrah, as he scooped the pacer over the third man for a six.  Sam Konstas also talked about his knock on his debut.

"For me, I was just trying to get into the contest. I was just trying to bring the best version of myself against whoever I was facing. It got heated at times, but that's good for me. I feel it brings the best out of me. Hopefully, it carries on in the next innings," he added.

Konstas said that all of his ramp shots against Bumrah were planned in an effort to disrupt Bumrah's rhythm. In the opening over of the game, which was delivered by Bumrah, Konstas found it difficult to put bat to ball.

"I think I was getting used to the wicket. It was the first time I was facing him. I was getting used to his action. He beat my bat a few times, I was lucky enough to get a few away. But, it was a great contest. Yeah, definitely premeditated. But, I was trying to keep my head still and watch the ball until it went off my bat. Got a few away today," he added.

Australia made 311/6 at stumps on day one.
