Australia’s Sam Konstas impressed one and all with his fearless batting approach on Day 1 of the Boxing Day Test against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Featuring in his debut Test, the 19-year-old opener played some audacious strokes to unsettle the Indian pacers, especially Jasprit Bumrah.

During the seventh over of Australia’s first innings, Konstas executed a conventional scoop, sending Bumrah's delivery over the wicketkeeper for a boundary. He followed up with a stunning reverse ramp shot for six, sailing over the slip cordon to leave the commentators and spectators in awe.

This adventurous shot marked the first maximum conceded by Bumrah in Test cricket after 4483 balls or since 2021.

Konstas continued his dominance over Bumrah, smashing the Indian pace spearhead for another six in the 11th over. This made him only the second batter, after England's Jos Buttler, to hit two sixes off Bumrah in a single Test innings.

Here’s the video:

Sam Konstas notched up his maiden Test fifty off 52 balls. He went on to score 60 off 65 balls with 6 boundaries and 2 sixes before being trapped in front of the wicket by left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja.

Konstas received his maiden baggy green cap from former skipper Mark Taylor at the age of 19 years and 85 days, making him the fourth youngest Test debutant for Australia.

Ian Craig leads the list after he played his maiden Test for the Aussies in 1953 at the age of 17 years 239 days. Skipper Pat Cummins holds the second place on the chart as he made his debut at the age of 18 years and 193 days in 2011. Tom Garrett stands in third place and Clem Hill holds the fifth place on the list.
