Team India failed to claim a wicket in only 13.2 overs of play that was possible due to rain on Day 1 of the third Test against Australia at the Gabba.

However, Jasprit Bumrah ruled the first hour of the second day’s play as he removed the Australian opening duo of Usman Khawaja (21) and Nathan McSweeney (9) in quick succession.

After losing two batters early, Steve Smith joined Marnus Labuschagne in the middle to revive Australia’s innings. The pair managed to frustrate Indian bowlers by adding 37 runs for the third wicket off 89 deliveries before Nitish Kumar Reddy provided a breakthrough. Labuschagne was dismissed for 12 off 55 balls.

Before walking back to the pavilion, Labuschagne was involved in a playful banter with Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj.

During the 33rd over of the Australia’s first innings, Siraj tried to swap bails in an attempt to break the concentration of the Australia batter. However, the act didn’t go down well with Labuschagne, who immediately swapped the bails once again.

The bail switch trick, which led to the dismissal of quite a few batters in the past, also worked well for India as in the next over itself, Nitish managed to get the prized scalp of Labuschagne, caught by Virat Kohli in the slips.

Here’s the video:

At the time of Labuschagne’s dismissal, the hosts were struggling at 75 for 3 in 33.2 overs. His wicket brough the in-form Travis Head at the crease.
