In an unexpected turn of events, Yashasvi Jaiswal on Wednesday (December 11) missed Team India’s bus as it left for the Adelaide airport to board a flight to Brisbane for the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

According to a report published in India Today, the Indian contingent, including skipper Rohit Sharma and coach Gautam Gambhir, waited briefly before departing, leaving Jaiswal to follow later in a separate car arranged by the management.

The Indian players and the support staff members were scheduled to fly from Adelaide to Brisbane at 10 AM local time. The touring party was set to depart from their hotel at 8:30 AM.

The Indian squad began boarding the bus on time, but Jaiswal was notably absent. After waiting for several minutes, India’s captain Rohit Sharma, visibly upset, instructed the support staff to locate the left-handed opener.

The manager and the team's security officer also disembarked to assess the situation. Following the discussion, the bus departed for the airport without Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Nearly 20 minutes later, Jaiswal was seen leaving the hotel. He then boarded a car with the team’s security officer to head towards the airport.

Yashasvi Jaiswal will be needed to step up with the bat after failing to make a mark in both innings of the pink-ball Test in Adelaide. The southpaw had played a match-winning knock of 161 in the series opener in Perth.

India had a strong start to the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, thrashing Australia by 295 runs at the Optus Stadium. However, the hosts bounced back in the second Test, winning by a dominant 10-wicket margin.

The five-match series currently stands level at 1-1, with the third Test scheduled to take place in Brisbane from December 14.
