Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed LBW by Mitchell Starc on the first ball of the ongoing second BGT 2024 Test that is being played in Adelaide on December 6, 2024. Jaiswal, who had scored 0 and 161 in the first Test in Perth, had also gotten verbal with Starc then.

And now former Australia opener and coach Justin Langer has stated that Starc has taught Jaiswal a very bitter lesson by dismissing him first ball of the Test.

It was Jaiswal’s second duck in the ongoing five-match Test series. He was dismissed for an eight-ball duck in the first innings of the first Test, which was played at Optus Stadium in Perth from November 22 to 25.

This would be a stinger for young Jaiswal, who memorably exchanged a few cheeky words with the bowler during the first Test on his way to a magnificent 161-run century.

With the tide firmly in India's favor, Jaiswal took a moment to express his thoughts after defending one of Starc's deliveries. “It’s coming too slow," Jaiswal said as Starc smirked.

Langer, who works commentary for Star Sports, said that one of the “bitter" lessons he learnt is that the bowlers always “get the last laugh."

One thing I’ve learnt at a very young age (is that) bowlers always get the last laugh. Eventually, you’re going to get out. Yeah, you might have a bit of banter with the bowler, but bowlers always get the last laugh. It’s a bitter lesson I’ve learnt early, and Mitchell Starc got the last laugh here,” Langer said on Star Sports.

Though Shubman Gill and KL Rahul steadied the ship a bit with a 69-run stand for the second wicket, India was routed out for 180 in the first innings, with Nitish Reddy top-scoring with 42 runs. Mitchell Starc had the last laugh as he finished with career-best figures of 6/48.
