Yashasvi Jaiswal, one of the heroes of India’s Perth Test win, was dismissed for a duck on Day 1 of the pink-ball Test against Australia at the Adelaide Oval.
The left-handed opener was trapped in front of the wickets on the first ball of the Day-Night Test by star fast bowler Mitchell Starc.
Jaiswal decided against taking a review because the ball was clearly hitting the stumps. After a brief chat with his opening partner KL Rahul, the southpaw walked back to the pavilion.
Here’s the video of Jaiswal’s dismissal:
It was Jaiswal’s second duck in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The 22-year-old bagged an eight-ball duck in the first innings of the series opener.
However, Jaiswal bounced back strongly in the second innings of Perth Test, smashing 161 off 297 balls with 15 boundaries and 3 sixes to set up India’s 295-run victory.
During his match-winning ton, Yashasvi Jaiswal also sledged Starc by saying “You’re bowling too slow”.
Meanwhile, India made three changes to their playing XI for the pink-ball Test. While Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill replaced Dhruv Jurel and Devdutt Padikkal in the line-up, R Ashwin was preferred by the team management ahead of Washington Sundar.
India XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (WK), Rohit Sharma (C), Nitish Reddy, Ravichandran Ashwin, Harshit Rana, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj
