Yashasvi Jaiswal celebrates his maiden Test ton in Australia | GettyYoung Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal showcased impeccable composure and confidence to notch up his fourth career Test century on Day 3 of the ongoing first Test series against Australia in Perth. This is also his maiden Test ton Down Under in his first appearance on Australian soil.

Resuming from an overnight score of 90* off 193 balls, Jaiswal did not waste much time to bring up his three-figure mark. The southpaw reached the landmark with an audacious upper cut for six over third-man region off Josh Hazlewood.

After falling for a duck in the first innings to Mitchell Starc, Jaiswal bounced back strongly in the second dig, smashing eight fours and three sixes in his 205-ball century.

This was Jaiswal's third century of 2024, following his sensational knocks of 209 against England in Visakhapatnam and an unbeaten 214 in Rajkot.

With this knock, the left-handed opener also become the third Indian batter to slam a Test century on maiden appearance in Australia. ML Jaisimha was the first, scoring 101 in Brisbane during the 1967-68 series, followed by Sunil Gavaskar’s 113 at the same venue in 1977-78.

On the way to his hundred, Jaiswal added 201 runs for the opening wicket with KL Rahul, who was dismissed for 77 off 176 balls.
