Nitish Reddy proved to be savior of Indian team in the ongoing second BGT 2024 Test against Australia. This match is being played at the Adelaide Oval ground in Adelaide from December 6 onwards.
India captain Rohit Sharma returned to the playing XI and won the toss, choosing to bat first in the pink ball, day night Test. He replaced Dhruv Jurel in the XI, while Washington Sundar made way for R Ashwin.
Yashasvi Jaiswal fell on the first ball of the match to Mitchell Starc. Then Shubman Gill (31) and KL Rahul (37) added 69 runs for the second wicket, but Starc had KL Rahul and Virat Kohli (7) dismissed in no time.
Scott Boland then jumped into action, dismissing Gill and Rohit Sharma in quick succession. Rishabh Pant stayed out there for 21 runs, but fell to a Pat Cummins bouncer. Another partnership came between Nitish Reddy and R Ashwin (22), that pushed India to a final total of 180 runs.
Reddy impressed a lot, scoring 42 with 3 fours and 3 sixes. One of his six was an audacious one, as he changed his batting stance just as Boland was about to deliver the ball and smacked the ball over third man by reverse scooping it for a six.

It this was not enough, he smashed Mitchell Starc for another impressive six. Starc bowled a length ball that was going across Reddy and the Indian batter just lofted the ball straight over cover for a six.
Starc was the hero with the ball for Australia, taking his career-best 6/48.
