“I still think about the fact that 15 overs were there,” Ishan Kishan rues missing out on ODI triple ton vs Bangladesh

Kishan slammed 210 off 131 balls in the third ODI against Bangladesh earlier this month.

Ishan Kishan | GettyEarlier this month, Ishan Kishan created history as he became the fourth Indian batter to slam a double century in the 50-over format in the ongoing third ODI against Bangladesh at Chattogram.

The southpaw came into the side after skipper Rohit Sharma got ruled out of the final ODI with a thumb injury and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

Opening the innings, Kishan batted aggressively right from the word go to put the opposition bowlers under pressure. The 24-year-old slammed his maiden ODI century in 85 balls and went on to make a daddy hundred (210 off 131 balls) before being dismissed.

While the swashbuckling left-hander is happy with his knock, he rues throwing away a golden opportunity to become the first triple centurion in ODI cricket.

"I know that there was still 15 overs to go, so right now when I watch my highlights I still think about the fact that 15 overs were there and maybe I could have gone for 300 but I think that my wrists were gone," Kishan said in an interview with OneCricket.

When enquired about his attacking instinct, Ishan Kishan said he probably gets it from legendary India opener Virender Sehwag.

"Maybe I bat like this because I watch a lot of Virender Sehwag highlights and I have seen him smack bowlers like Brett Lee and Shoaib Akhtar all around the ground and maybe I got the instinct of attacking batting from him," he added.

With this mesmerizing knock against Bangladesh, Kishan has put himself ahead in the next line of Indian openers. He will be next seen in action in the upcoming white-ball series against Sri Lanka at home, starting January 3.
