Former Indian pacer Ajit Agarkar showered rich praise on pacer Mohammed Siraj after the Indian speedster produced yet another stunning performance for the side in the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh.
Siraj is one of the main fast bowlers for Team India and he didn’t let his team down whenever he was given the ball and performed at his best, giving it his all.
Well, Siraj wreaked havoc on Bangladesh’s batting line-up by taking three wickets in his 13 overs while conceding only 20 runs on the second day of the first test in Chattogram. He also bowled two maiden overs in his stunning spell.
He got the wicket off the first ball of Bangladesh's innings, getting Najmul Hossain Shanto caught behind for a duck and dismissing Zakir Hasan for 20. He then bowled Litton Das after the two had a brief verbal argument.
His 3/20 and Kuldeep Yadav’s five-wicket haul helped Team India restrict Bangladesh to 150 in their first innings in reply to India's 404.
Meanwhile, Agarkar said that Siraj’s bowling is flawless, and the pacer has the ability to execute different styles of bowling, which has been a big highlight of his career so far in Test cricket.
Ajit Agarkar was quoted as saying by Sony Sports: “There is no weakness seen in his bowling. If you have to bowl fast through the air and pitch it up, he can do that. If you have to hit the length, he can do that. When the ball releases properly from his hand, there is an outswing to the right-handers.”
The former pacer added, “So, he has the ability and can do different styles of bowling. It has been a highlight of his career that whenever you see his bowling, he puts in his full effort in every over and every delivery. I am not saying that no one else does that but it has been a highlight.”
Agarkar signed off by saying, “The lines were extremely tight and because he has the speed, when there is uneven bounce, the batters don’t get time to adjust. Litton Das was looking good and if you have to dismiss a good batter who has spent some time, you need to have the ability which he has.”
India made 258/2d in the second innings thanks to centuries from Shubman Gill (110) and Cheteshwar Pujara (102*) and set Bangladesh 513 runs to win, out of which they scored 42/0 at the end of third day's play.
