India captain Rohit Sharma is likely to be available for the second and final Test against Bangladesh, starting from December 22 in Mirpur. He had missed the third and final ODI and the ongoing first Test in Chattogram after hurting his thumb in the second ODI.

He came out to bat later in the innings, as India tried to chase down the 272-run target, scoring a brisk half-century and only falling 5 runs short. He then flew back to Mumbai for consulting with doctors, where it was found by the medical team that this persistent injury was keeping him out of action.

KL Rahul led India in the 3rd ODI and in the first Test his absence while uncapped batter Abhimanyu Easwaran replaced him in the Test squad.

As per sources close to ANI, Rohit went for rehabilitation in NCA and will recover in time before the second Test match and will fly to Bangladesh for the match.

Apart from Rohit Sharma, many other cricketers failed to make it to the Indian squad like Jasprit Bumrah (back), Mohammad Shami (shoulder), and Ravindra Jadeja (knee). In their places, Navdeep Saini and Saurabh Kumar were added as replacements and Jaydev Unadkat was also called up to the Indian squad.
