Team India ended day two of the first Test match against Bangladesh on a high thanks to a collective effort of their batters and then an excellent outing by their bowlers as the hosts finished day two on 133/8 in response to India’s 404.
India resumed the day on 278/6 and lost Shreyas Iyer early for 86 well-made runs. Then R Ashwin (58) hit his 13th Test fifty and added 92 valuable runs for the 8th wicket with Kuldeep Yadav, who made his Test-best score of 40 runs.
In the end, India was bowled out for 404 runs with Mehidy Hasan and Taijul Islam taking four wickets apiece.
In reply, Mohammed Siraj started the innings perfectly by having Najmul Hossain Shanto caught behind on the first ball of the innings, and then Umesh Yadav bowled Yasir Ali. Zakir Hasan (20) and Litton Das (24) took Bangladesh to tea without further damage.
But after that, Siraj removed Litton shortly after the tea and then Kuldeep Yadav ran through the Bangladeshi middle order with figures of 4/33, which included important wickets of Shakib Al Hasan (3) and Mushfiqur Rahim (28).
He also picked the wickets of Nurul Hasan for 16 and bowled Taijul Islam for a duck. It was only due to some stubborn defense from Mehidy Hasan (16*) and Ebadot Hossain (12*), that Bangladesh managed to end the day on 133/8, still trailing by 271 runs.
For India, Kuldeep starred with the ball with figures of 4/33, while Siraj took 3/14 and Umesh got one wicket. The cricket fraternity was all praises for the bowling effort of Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj and shared their reactions on Twitter.
