Kohli was dismissed LBW for 1 run by Taijul Islam | TwitterIndia batter Virat Kohli didn’t have a very good day in the office in the first Test between Bangladesh and India which began at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram on December 14, 2022.

KL Rahul, the stand-in India captain won the toss and chose to bat first on a pitch that assisted spinners. However, both India openers Rahul (22) and Shubman Gill (20) fell early with the captain chopping a wide delivery onto his stumps and Gill getting out trying to play a paddle sweep.

Much was expected from Kohli, who had scored a century in the third ODI at this same venue a couple of days ago. However, he looked a bit jittery against the left-arm spin of Taijul Islam, and on the fifth ball, he was dismissed by the bowler LBW.

The ball pitched on the leg stump and spun enough to beat Kohli’s attempt to play it on the back foot and hit his back pad in front of the middle stump. Virat took a DRS review, but the result was him being given out for 1 run.

Shreyas Iyer and Cheteshwar Pujara got the Indian innings back on track after Rishabh Pant had entertained with 46 runs in 45 balls before falling to Mehidy Hasan.

Interestingly, during the tea break, Virat Kohli was seen having a net session with left-arm spinner Saurabh Kumar bowling to him, as he prepared himself to counter the spin from Taijul and Shakib Al Hasan, both left-arm spinners.

India has thus far made 231/4 with both Iyer and Pujara having scored half-centuries.
