The 3rd ODI between Bangladesh and India being played at Chattogram saw India batting first after losing the toss and opener Ishan Kishan, who replaced Rohit Sharma at the top, grabbed the opportunity with both hands and made multiple records as well.
India made two changes in their XI with Kishan replacing Rohit Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav coming in as well. Bangladesh made one change as Taskin Ahmed replaced Nasum Ahmed and Yasir Ali came in for Najmul Hasan Shanto.
Shikhar Dhawan’s poor run with the bat continued as he was dismissed LBW by Shakib Al Hasan for 3 runs. But after that Bangladesh had to wait for 31 more overs for their next wicket as Ishan Kishan and Virat Kohli proceeded to destroy their bowling to all parts of the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.
Kishan was particularly savage in his batting as he raced to his first century in ODIs in just 85 balls and then took only 18 more balls to reach 150 runs. He was hitting both pacers and spinners for sixes and barely looking to block any balls.
He became only the fourth Indian after Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, and Rohit Sharma to score a double ton in ODIs when he reached the milestone in 126 balls.
This was the fastest double ton in ODIs, breaking Chris Gayle’s record of 138 balls and at 24 years and 154 days, Kishan is also the youngest to score an ODI double ton.
It was a wild celebration from Kishan who screamed his heart out after completing the run which gave him the record. However, on the other hand, Virat Kohli had his hand up in celebration even before Kishan celebrated.
Kohli then proceeded to do a little bhangra as he hugged Kishan.
