BAN v IND 2022: Cricket fraternity lauds Mehidy Hasan as his 100* takes Bangladesh to 271/7 in 2nd ODI

Bangladesh finished on 271/7 after being reduced to 69/6 in 19 overs.

Mahmudullah made 77 runs | GettyThe second ODI between Bangladesh and India began in the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka on December 7, 2022. The hosts came into this match with a lead of 1-0 in the three-match ODI series having won the 1st encounter on Dec 4.

Litton Das won the toss and chose to bat first and revealed that Nasum Ahmed replaced Hasan Mahmud in the XI. India also had two changes as Umran Malik came in for Kuldeep Sen and Shahbaz Ahmed was replaced by Akshar Patel.

Indian bowlers were at the top as Bangladesh was reduced to 69/6 in 19 overs with Mohammed Siraj removing Anamul Haque (11) and Litton Das (7), and Umran Malik then clean bowled Najmul Hossain Shanto for 21.

Washington Sundar got rid of Shakib Al Hasan (8) and Mushfiqur Rahim (12). This brought together Mahmudullah and Mehidy Hasan Miraz and the duo negated the Indian bowling after that, as they added 148 runs for the seventh wicket.

This was not only a Bangladeshi record partnership in ODIs for any wicket against India but also the highest seventh-wicket partnership against India in ODIs.

Mahmudullah fell for 77 in 96 balls with 7 fours to Umran Malik, but Mehidy Hasan carried on and completed his maiden ODI hundred on the last ball of the innings, finishing on 100* in 83 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Nasum also contributed 18* with 2 fours and 1 six.

Bangladesh finished with 271/7 in 50 overs. For India, Washington Sundar with 3/37 was the pick of bowlers, while Siraj and Malik took two wickets as well.

The cricket fraternity was all proud of Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s incredible knock and lauded him on Twitter.
