BAN v IND 2022: Mohammad Shami ruled out of Bangladesh ODI series, BCCI announces replacement

The three-match ODI series is due to get underway on December 4 in Dhaka.

The BCCI confirmed the development on the eve of the ODI series, starting December 4 in Dhaka.

“Fast bowler Mohd. Shami sustained a shoulder injury during a training session in the lead up to the ODI series against Bangladesh. He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team at the NCA, Bengaluru and will not be able to take part in the three-match series,” the board said in its official release.

Speedster Umran Malik, who impressed one and all with his debut ODI series exploits against New Zealand last month, has been drafted in as Shami’s replacement.

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Umran Malik as Shami’s replacement,” the release added.
