Bangladesh crushed Sri Lanka by 137 runs in the opening game of Asia Cup 2018 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai. After winning the toss Bangladesh opted to bat first but they had a poor start and lost two wickets in the first over and Tamim Iqbal got injured and retired hurt in the fourth over and Bangladesh were 3 down for just 3 runs.

Mushfiqur Rahim and Mohammad Mithun's 131 runs partnership brought Bangladesh back in the game but Lasith Malinga removed Mithun and Hossain in his second spell and Bangladesh lost 6 wickets for 69 runs.

Mushfiqur Rahim was rock solid at the other end and his brilliant knock of 144 runs helped his team to post a good total of 261 runs. In reply, Sri Lanka also lost their openers inside the first five overs and kept on losing wickets and eventually were bowled out for just 124 runs and suffered a massive loss of 137 runs.
