Pakistan has received a shock ahead of the Asia Cup 2018, as their premier all-rounder Imad Wasim has failed the mandatory Yo-Yo Test on Monday (3 September).

However, the Glamorgan-born all-rounder will get another chance to clear the fitness Test for the tournament, as Pakistan are yet to announce their squad for the Asia Cup 2018.

Fitness has been one of the key criterias for Pakistan to play at the International level under Mickey Arthur and Pakistan Cricket Board has set the benchmark of 17.4. Imad missed the mark by a slender margin of 0.2. However, he would certainly clear the test with another given opportunity, as the all-rounder will now undergo another fitness test on Tuesday (September 4).  

 17 players out of 18 Pakistan players have cleared the Yo-Yo Test including Hasan Ali and Shoaib Malik at the training camp in Lahore, where the test was conducted on Monday.

Recently, the 29-year-old all-rounder played in the Caribbean Premier League 2018 for the Jamaica Tallawahswhere he picked up six wickets in seven matches with an economy rate of 6.74.

With less than two weeks to go for the Asia Cup, the all-rounder will be looking to clear the Yo-Yo Test to get select in the Pakistan squad for the mega event.

 UAE will host the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup 2018, which will get underway on 15 September with  Pakistan opening their campaign on 16 September against the winner of the Asia Cup qualifiers.
