Tilak Varma returned home to Hyderabad to a hero’s welcome after his winning knock in the final of the Asia Cup 2025, where he helped Team India defeat Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday, September 28.
Pakistan had been asked to bat first after India won the toss, and despite being 113/1 at one stage, thanks to Sahibzada Farhan’s fifty, they were bundled up for 146 runs. This was thanks to Kuldeep Yadav’s 4/30 and two wickets each by Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, and Varun Chakaravarthy.
In response, Faheem Ashraf dismissed Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma for cheap, leaving India 20/3, with Suryakumar Yadav’s poor run with the bat continuing. However, Tilak Varma anchored one end and put up two half-century stands with Sanju Samson (24) and Shivam Dube (33).
Varma scored 69* with 3 fours and 4 sixes, while Rinku Singh batted just one ball and hit Haris Rauf for a four to win the final and the Asia Cup 2025 trophy for India.
Tilak Varma was named Player of the Match for his 69* and was over the moon after his heroics.
He returned home to Hyderabad to a hero’s welcome at the airport and was swarmed by the fans, and he struggled to give bytes to several news reporters and waved to the fans who had gathered to welcome him.
