India coach Gautam Gambhir is usually expressionless when he sits in the dressing room during the Men in Blue’s matches, but during the recent Asia Cup 2025 final win over Pakistan, BCCI shared a video of unseen visuals featuring Gambhir.
India won the toss in the Asia Cup 2025 final and chose to field. Pakistan started well as Sahibzada Farhan scored 57 off 36 and added 84 with Fakhar Zaman (46). But from 113/1, Pakistan collapsed to 146 all out. Kuldeep Yadav took 4/30, including three wickets in one over, while Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Axar Patel claimed two each.
India’s reply began poorly at 20/3 after the quick dismissals of Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shubman Gill. Sanju Samson (24) and Tilak Varma steadied the innings before Tilak added a vital 60-run stand with Shivam Dube. Dube’s 33 off 22, highlighted by a massive six off Haris Rauf, shifted the momentum.
Tilak Varma finished unbeaten on 69 from 53 balls, striking three fours and four sixes. Rinku Singh hit the winning boundary as India defeated Pakistan by five wickets to secure their ninth Asia Cup crown.
The BCCI released a behind-the-scenes film depicting the raw emotions within the Indian dressing room during the stressful closing seconds against Pakistan. With 10 runs needed from the final over, the video showed Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, skipper Suryakumar Yadav, head coach Gautam Gambhir, and other staff members looking nervously as Tilak Varma struck Haris Rauf.
The mood changed suddenly on the second ball, when Tilak hit Rauf for a huge six. Gambhir sprang from his seat, beat the table, and yelled in delight, an unusual reaction from a coach known for his solemn demeanor. Gambhir fell to the ground moments after Rinku Singh hit the winning boundary to complete a five-wicket victory.
Gambhir immediately hugged Tilak Varma, who shepherded India to the win. He then posed for photos with young openers Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. The video provided fans with a rare view of Gambhir's lighter, more impassioned side, as opposed to his normally calm stance on the sidelines.
